Things To Do In Atlanta With Kids in 2020

My family and I have lived in the Atlant area for about 15 years now and we have practically done it all! When we get bored, I go straight to Google or Pinterest and type “what to do in Atlanta with kids”. So, I decided to write this blog! I wanted to show our most favorite places to go and do together as a family.

Centennial Park

Centennial Park is located in the heart of downtown Atlanta. There are so many things to do while you are there. This is where the Farris wheel is also located. There is always a festival or special event going on here.

Centennial Olympic Park was made for the 1996 Summer Olympics that took place in Atlanta. This is the centerpiece of the Olympic legacy. You will find 22 acres of green space, a couple of amazing parks for kids to play, statues and monuments, a fountain of rings for your kids to visually enjoy or they have the option to run and play in this water fountain. This is the perfect place to go if you are ever in Atlanta.

You could literally spend all day here because around the parameter of the park, there are the best things to do in Atlanta. World of Coca-Cola, The Center For Civil and Human Rights, Atlanta Aquarium, College Football Hall Of Fame just to name a few.

World Of Coca-Cola

Word of Coca-Cola is such a great place to visit while you are in Atlanta. You could spend hours browsing all of the exhibits. This is the new renovation/updated World Of Coca-Cola. OG WOC was built in 1990. The building got a fabulous renovation and reopened its doors in 2007. WOC has had over 24 million guests walk through the doors. That’s a lot of people!

I remember going to the Original World Of Coke on a field trip. I remembered it being “the best place ever!” And it also held a special place in my heart because it was one of the places my father took me when he came to visit me one weekend when I was a little girl. He didn’t have much money and he told me to pick one place and that’s where I chose to go. When they announced the renovation, I remember a little piece of me was so sad.

Now, the new World Of Coca-Cola is better than ever and it still has a few of the old features from the old building. You can taste test colas from all over the world. Some are amazing and some… not so much. But the experience is one that is perfect for the whole family.

Georgia Aquarium

Georgia Aquarium is also located at Centennial Park and is a must-visit place while you are there.

You can make a whole day of this and it is great for any age. There are rooms after rooms of underwater experiences that will leave you mesmerized.

 There are more than 70 habitats, 10 million gallons of water filled with thousands of species of aquatic animals such as whale sharks, manta rays, dolphins, whales, sea otters, penguins and thousands of other animals.

Aside from the exhibits, there are shows, 3D experiences, behind the scenes encounter programs and face to face interactions with dolphins, penguins, and otters.

Guests even have the option to swim with whale sharks and manta rays in 6.3 million gallons of water in the world’s largest aquarium habitat.

The Center For Civil and Human Rights 

The Center For Civil and Human Rights is located across from the World of Coca-Cola. You can learn about the Civil Rights Movement and the progress of Human Rights worldwide.

If you are looking to add an educational aspect to your trip, this is the place to go. You can teach your kids (and you) about The American Civil Rights Movement, Dr. Martin Luther King, The Global Human Rights Movement, and see The Dignity Museum.

Atlanta Collage Football Hall Of Fame

Where are my football fans at?! You will love this! This is a new attraction located near Georiga Aquarium by Centennial Park.

In August 2014, College Football Hall of Fame opened as a 94,256 square feet facility and is a popular attraction. As you walk through this 3 story Football Hall Of Fame, you can see memorabilia, jumbotrons, and more. Each level has its own experiences.

The first floor has a 45 -yard football field that is used for events or skill challenges.

The second floor is the ultimate fan experience.

The third floor is the actual College Football Hall of Fame area.

This is perfect for the sports fan in your family.

Zoo Atlanta

Zoo Atlanta is not walking distance from Centennial Park, however, it is included in all of the fun. You can purchase what is called The City Pass which gives you access to:

However, you can just go to the Atlanta Zoo if you don’t want to do the others.

Founded in 1889, the Zoo is Atlanta’s oldest cultural destination and is one of the oldest continuously operating zoological institutions in the United States.

Zoo Atlanta has over 1,300 animals and more than 220 species which also includes the nation’s largest collections of gorillas, orangutans, and pandas.

You can spend half of the day walking around and looking at all of the exhibits, attractions and interactive activities.

Atlanta Botanical Gardens

This is another nostalgic place for me. My husband knows how much I absolutely love Christmas, so he surprised me a few years ago and gave me the ultimate Christmas experience. It was magical, to say the least.

The mission of Atlanta Botanical Gardens is:

“To develop and maintain plant collections for the purposes of display, education, conservation, research, and enjoyment.”

And that is what they do with excellence since 1976. The garden is 30 acres full of culture and beauty that makes it the most beautiful place in Atlanta.

The property includes gardens and woodlands featuring rare, endangered and most exotic plants you can find that stay beautiful all year round.

Have lunch at one of the on-site restaurants your whole family will enjoy. Grab your family and make a day of it!

Six Flags Over GA

Six Flags Over GA is the largest theme park in Georgia. With over 40 rides and attractions, you will be here all day long and experience excitement, thrills, and chills! I personally love Six Flags because there is something to do for all ages and thrill preferences.

Six Flags has the world’s largest roller coasters for the thrill-seekers, water rides, water park, rides and roller coasters for kids, and many more.

Everywhere you turn there is something fun happening.

Six Flags White Water

If you live near Atlanta or if you plan on returning often, you can always purchase the Six Flags/White Water Season Pass Combo. It comes with access to both parks along with parking. There are also upgrades where you can add food and drinks. This is a great deal! I get them for my family every year.

Six Flags White Water is located in Marietta and is exclusively the largest water park in the Southeast. SO MUCH FUN! We get season passes and go all of the time since we live so close. We use it as our pool! We can go all day or just go for a few hours.

Close your eyes and imagine many sections filled with water rides, slides, children laughing and parents feeling like kids again.
